前言：好的老師不會是 PPT 做最好、最能口若懸河、最幽默風趣吸引注意力的，而是能夠啟發學生好奇心、創造舒適學習環境，以及知道什麼時候該支援、什麼時候該放手的老師。所以，當我們自己變成老師，也要記得學生到底想要什麼樣的學習感受。
具體而言，要想達到以上三個效果，有以下三點建議——連結經驗、鼓勵參與、營造環境：

一、將教學內容與學生經驗連結
當教學對象不再是腦袋空空的小孩子，而是已經有部分見習、實習經驗的新進醫師，我們應該基於他已有的知識體系、臨床經驗來因材施教。而不是每個學生來都講用同樣的簡報講類似的主題。
譯者ＯＳ：舉個反例：如果一個老師只懂得上台霹靂啪拉分享自己的豐功偉業 —— 但都跟學生目前的需求無關，那這個「老師」充其量是個好為人師的自大狂，終究只是在浪費學生寶貴的青春而已。

二、允許並鼓勵主動參與
鼓勵參與能夠增強學習效率，無論是小組討論、角色扮演，甚至讓學生參與教材的重制和教學方式的規劃，都能夠讓成年學習者有更強的學習動力。
此外，讓學生們彼此之間互相教學，用彼此聽得懂得語言互換學習心得（像讀書會一樣），也是一種教學方式。在這種模式下，住院醫師也要預先準備相關課題，務求自己已經盡可能釐清了所有可能的認知謬誤，才能夠在學生需要支援時提出說明和釋疑。

Adults can best learn and retain information if they are involved in the teaching process. Consider using peer-to-peer teaching to facilitate learning whenever possible.）
三、營造安全的學習環境
不管老師教的再用心，如果學生感到不舒服——無論是生理上或是心理上，教學效率都幾大打折扣。因此，透過語言或者硬體環境的改善營造安全、舒適的學習環境，也是教學者的責任之一。例如：
- 再開始詰問之前，先強調「不是為了要電你們」
- 要求學生們提問，並強調「問得好不好都不扣分」
- 鼓勵學生們互相討論彼此的見解，但也先取得「我們的討論是對事不對人，所以不要把別人的質疑當作人格批評，大家都是為了讓彼此更好」的共識

能將以上三點放在心中，我們的教學就算起了個頭，至於更細節的教學方法，之後再慢慢幫大家翻譯、註解。
